Titan 18 Inch Unground Crystal Bowl #7: F2 Second Octave 432 (+37 cents)
An extra large format, clear crystal bowl with unusually long sustain and a brooding, deep second octave tone. This bowl is one of one, and you will receive the exact bowl here.
At 18 inches of unground clear quartz, this bowl produces an F2 fundamental at 87.5 Hz — a sub-bass note that most crystal bowls cannot reach.
120+ seconds of sustain and it keeps going. Deep, bass register.
The Sound
This is an unusually deep register for a crystal instrument. That depth is not just a matter of size. It is a direct consequence of the unground rim. Standard production crystal bowls are rim-ground after their making: material is removed from the edge to bring the bowl to a certified pitch frequency.
That process works, but material removal around the circumference is rarely perfectly even, which introduces variations in wall thickness that can produce beating artifacts that lead to oddities in the sound.
This bowl was finished without grinding.
The rim retains the geometry of the original cast form and the radial symmetry that produces a clean, consistent resonance as the tone builds.
Listen to the audio sample. The recording runs 60 seconds and the bowl is still ringing when it ends.
