The Weathered Collection: The Taurus Singing Bowl - 9 inch Large | Handmade In Nepal

Taurus is the anchor—the enduring, grounded presence in the zodiac. Governed by Venus and ruled by the element of Earth, Taurus stands for stability, sensuality, patience, and inner strength.

Taureans are steadfast, loyal, calm, and sensorially attuned. They move through life with intentionality—valuing beauty, craftsmanship, and the enduring over the fleeting. In a world of haste, Taurus teaches the sacred art of stillness and the power of lasting presence.

Here, the essence of Taurus takes form in sound.

The Taurus Bowl is a 9-inch bell-bronze instrument, handmade in our workshop in Kathmandu, Nepal.

From dozens of handmade pieces, 24 were selected to represent Taurus—chosen for their unmistakable stability, depth, and sonic warmth.

This bowl carries a deep, centering voice. Its sonic structure reflects the Taurus archetype: calm, focused, and full of substance.

Fundamental Tone:  A grounding low tone, 3rd octave.

Primary Overtone: 4th octave, this overtone brings a soft, glowing brilliance without disturbing the bowl’s earthy calm.

The sound is rich but unhurried—favoring slow, full-body resonance over brightness or shimmer. It is extremely stable, with a half-life of 4.61 seconds, meaning the tone sustains and fades naturally with exceptional smoothness. This long decay is a hallmark of high-quality bell bronze and masterful shaping.

Timbre-wise, the Taurus Bowl is defined by clarity in the low and mid ranges, with almost no high-frequency noise—resulting in a soothing, non-jarring tone ideal for meditation, bodywork, or sound healing.

Each bowl in this limited 24-piece Taurus series has been chosen not just for its craftsmanship—but for its ability to feel like Taurus: rooted, patient, enduring.

These will not return again.

A Special Note About The Weathered Collection:

Please note – this instrument has a special story, even more so than usual for our handmade treasures.

These exact bowls were in our “Sonic Bunker” in Hunt, TX when the flooding occurred July 4th 2025.

Some were hardly impacted; a full shelving unit remained perfectly intact with several of the bowls never even meeting the water. Others were jostled, submerged temporarily and sustained some bumps.

We’ve personally cleaned, taken care of, inspected and evaluated each of these items. Because of the weathering they’ve experienced, we’re pleased to offer them to you at three significant levels of discount, based on their condition from our personal inspection of each.

All are still incredible musical instruments, their impacts were primarily cosmetic (if any).

30% off – “You Can Hardly Tell” At first glance, it looks like a pristine singing bowl (with handmade singing bowls pristine includes hammer marks and asymmetries associated with a handmade instrument). There may be a few light scratches or small discoloration, but these are primarily on the bottom of the bowl. The bulk of our instruments are in this category.

40% off – “Pretty Scratched, Perfect Sound” There are obvious cosmetic and visual imperfections, scratches, discoloration. They play incredibly still, their song is unchanged, they just look weathered.

50% off – “A Little Broken But Still Sings” These bowls and gongs are either bent, or have a small hole in them. They generally play exactly as intended, but they’ve got some physical issues. There’s less than 10 total instruments in this category.
