Unlike traditional wind chimes that follow strict musical scales, this chime creates a harmonic wash, you'll hear a flowing blend of tones that naturally complement each other no matter how you play.
The Foundation (4th Octave)
Starting with our longest 29.5" bar tuned to C4, you'll hear the deepest voice in the collection. A warm, resonant tone that anchors the entire sonic range and provides a sense of grounding.
The Bridge (5th Octave)
The middle register (C5, G5, A5, B5) provides the melodic hear of this instrument.
The Sparkle (6th Octave)
Reaching up to G6 with our shortest 11.8" bar, these angelic frequencies cut through space with clarity.
Why This Isn't an "Exact" Scale
This instrument intentionally skips notes you'd find in a traditional C-Major scale. There's no D4, E4, F4, or G4 in the lower register. No F5 in the middle. No F6 or A6 in the upper range.
When you strike multiple bars in succession or let them ring together, you don't hear a "melody" in the conventional sense.
You will experience layered resonance. A complex cloud of overtones and undertones that build on each other. The absence of certain intervals prevents the ear from "resolving" to a predictable musical phrase.
The gaps in the scale create space for the harmonics themselves to become the music.
Because the bars are aluminum and the suspension is designed for maximum swing, each note sustains and decays relatively slowly.
Strike one bar and three seconds later you can strike another—the two tones will overlap, creating a chord that exists only in that moment.
