Gong Plates - Limited Edition by José Antonio Álvarez | Only 35 Available

Introducing, The Gong Plate. Hand-forged by José Antonio Álvarez X The Ohm Store in Spain over six months.

Our Silver-nickel alloy is sourced from one of the handful of European foundries capable of producing it. Each plate is hammered by hand, and the vision of the final version of each plate is created by Jose using tantric numerology and sacred geometry to determine dimensions. The colors you see are "fire patina" so no two will look the same. This is heat oxidation, applied from the forge and no paint, dyes, or chemical applications are used here.

Each one emerges differently, unique. 35 are available now.

The Sound

Our Spectrum analysis reveals two dominant frequencies around 300 Hz and 600 Hz, depending on which of the three included mallets you use.

A perfect 2:1 harmonic ratio.

The sound sustains for over 40 seconds from a single strike. Where singing bowls produce 8 to 12 complex overtones, these plates deliver pure, focused resonance with bell like, clean sustain.

The process

Only a handful of Metallurgists and Master Foundrymen can produce this alloy, known as silver-nickel. One of the most challenging parts of making silver nickel style instruments is to actually be able to source the alloy. We waited months to receive the raw material. José hand-hammers each plate, with a vision. Every strike placed with intention. Adjusted. Annealing. The patina formed during forging as heat oxidized the metal at a molecular level.

What you will receive.

One gong plate. 6.7″ × 10.2″ × 0.1″ thick.

Silver-nickel alloy with fire patina.

Three mallets included, each producing different tonal characteristics.

Each plate is unrepeatable. They are here in the United States, ready to be sent to you now.
